As Senior Vice President, Asset Management, Senior Housing, Christian N. (Chris) Cummings oversees asset management of Ventas’s Senior Housing Operating Portfolio (SHOP). Cummings leads a team of asset management professionals who collectively manage a portfolio of more than 850 independent and assisted living communities across the United States, Canada and the UK. His responsibilities include oversight of portfolio optimization efforts, including potential SHOP dispositions, capital expenditures, cost mitigation and operating expense efficiencies, including national procurement initiatives.

Since joining Ventas in 2002, Cummings has managed a wide variety of healthcare asset classes, including senior housing, skilled nursing, hospitals and outpatient medical as well as overseeing construction & development and financial planning & analysis. He has extensive experience with RIDEA, NNN, loan and joint-venture structures.

Cummings has participated in several healthcare real estate industry initiatives, including The National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care (NIC) Skilled Nursing Financial Benchmarks Task Force, and assisted in the drafting of the NIC Investments Guide for Seniors Housing. He also served on the board of Argentum, the leading national association dedicated to supporting companies operating professionally managed senior living communities. Prior to joining Ventas, Cummings worked for Lightyear Communications, a telecommunications company, in Louisville, Kentucky.

Cummings received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History, and his MBA with a concentration in Entrepreneurship from the University of Louisville.
